Hi guys,
The world of Thraindhne has evolved much over these last few month. We have expanded the world to new, far flung realms and even named the place. We know how it all started and sort of what a minor god is. We have heard tales of heroes, villains, gods, and commoners on this voyage and it has been amazing.
This month I would like to encourage you to make a story set in Thraindhne. Maybe there is a corrupt merchant in Ioda or maybe about a child in New Haven. Or even still expand the world and add in new and fantastic cities.
This May we go to you for stories and tales. Just write something up and email it to me at rowendarragh@gmail.com
Thank you,
Owen Darragh
This blog is all about my creation of the World of thraindhne. This is a fictional world that I have been thinking about making for sometime. On this site I will post a story from this world every week. I'll also be posting new ideas and features in this world as well. The, goal in the end, is that this world can be used as a campaign setting in D&D and be used my myself for a story. I hope you enjoy, give feedback, and subscribe.

Story #10: The fall of the Red Fox
Intro
So this is amazing. We have made it this far reached over 1000 views, almost have 50 posts, and we have now reached the 10th story. Over 250 hours in total of my free time and the time of others who have decided to help me, has been spent working on this.
Today we are going to take a break from Weldon's adventures and take a look at the last story of a war hero. This story is well known, especially in the north, and he is celebrated in both songs and tales. I am not only telling you this for these reasons but also because I will be coming out with a D&D module for this story very soon.
So let use begin the last tale of the Red Fox's exploits, "The Fall of the Red Fox"....
The Fall of the Red Fox
I guess before we can get too far in I should set the scene. The Weslory and Giant empires are in a great war for control of the continent. The war has been raging for over 100 years and little headway has been made by ether side. The Weslory have decided to make a push and have split their troops into two armies, the smaller one in the north to hold off the Giant's troops and the larger one was to take the Two Tower pass and converge on the capital with the northern army.
The Northern army was put under the command of a half fire-giant who people called the Red Fox, and his two companions, the half frost-giant, The White Wolf, and the half stone-giant, The Grey Wolf. They held the troops in a giant citadel near the boarder named The Iron Keep. It's walls were 10 feet thick, fully covering a 2 foot thick iron skin. It was said to be Giant proof and it was just about to be tested.
While the Weslory where creating their plan the giants had one of their own. Send the main army to attack the weaker Weslory army in the north and send a small force to weaken the larger one in the pass. And so the most elite of the elite giant troops decided to storm Iron keep in a hope to cripple the Weslory. Little did they know that the Red Fox was aware of this plan, for he had spies in the giant's cities and they were very important people.
Now it is said that 10 humans is worth one giant in power and at the ratio of the armies it would seem apparent that the Giants would win hands down. 2000 humans, elves, haflings, and such against 5000 Giants and their giant war beasts. But let's not forget the citadel in which the Weslory troop reside, or the cunning wit of their leader.
Preparing for the siege, the Red Fox had his troops build extra obstacles, reinforcements, and weapons. He had all possible food horded into the building, leaving the surrounding land barren and empty. He had all traps and secret doors guarded, for the Red Fox had been running Iron Keep for most of his military career and he new every weakness or entrance.
When the Giants arrived the Weslory troops where more then ready. The Fox had his troops begin combat as soon as the giants where in range of the catapults so to prevent them for organizing. And with the first shot the battle began. It is said the battle raged for five days and five night but actually it only lasted two days. After the first day the Weslory had fought off the giants but where running low on equipment.
It was said that that night the High General of the Giant army planned a sneak attack. He had part of his troop appear to retreat and then return flanking the fort. Then he equipped the beats with huge spire of iron and wood. Then at the next morning they struck and the walls of Iron Keep fell. Towers and walls crumbled around the surviving Weslory troops as they fought off the giant army.
The Grey Wolf had already fallen under the High General's sword and the chance of success seamed to be slipping away. Then it happened. The Red Fox decided to try and take out the High General. He retreated all of his troops to the last standing tower and raised a white and black flag (The sign for a parle). He stoop on the top of the tower and talked to the High General. They talked for many hours and even had a few drinks.
Then the Fox did the unthinkable, he did what any honorable solder would condemn. In a flash he drew his blade and jumped onto the High General. On that mark the rest of his troops poured out of the Tower and the battle began again. And in the center of it was the Red Fox fighting twelve giants at once on top of their leader's head.
The giants where actually losing and many of the remaining troops couldn't believe it. Then there came a cry of triumph form the midst of the combat, and everything stopped. The Fox had just killed the High General. The Giants panicked and flee the field and the Weslory Troops cheered.
Now you might be asking, "But this is called the fall of the Red Fox? How did he fall?". Well, Giants are quite tall creatures. When he killed the High General, the giant fell and squashed him. Not only was he killed, but his legendary sword FireBiter broke into three pieces.
But this is not the end of the tale. The Weslory won the war and the giant empire crumbled. As for the White Wolf, he became the first Duke of Boarshead and took the pieces of FireBiter. It is said that a year after the war there was a great snow storm. He walked to the remaining tower of the Iron Keep, now called the Tower of the Red Fox. Here he paid tribute to his dead friends and then went off the hide the pieces. Once this task was complete he walked away into the storm and joined his friends at last.

Note #20: Gnomes
Gnomes
When the Gnomish people had been created they where divided into three major kingdoms, each of which harbored a different type of Gnome. This created the 3 diffrent types, the Slyn Dàih (Forest Gnomes), Krieln Dàih (Rock Gnomes), and Sthich Dàih (Wee Gnomes). Each had their own skills.
The Forest Gnomes became friends of nature and became friends with the Elves. The Rock Gnomes stayed more at home and were great inventers. When they came to Thraindhne they became friends with the Dwarves. The Wee Gnomes where smaller then normal gnomes by about a foot. They where pure hearted and valient warroirs. They would always help others. Gnomes live to be about 300 - 400 years old and are at most 4 feet tall.
Note:
If you wish to use these in D&D 5e follow the rules bellow
The gnomes are cousins to the elves. They also lived in Shalfnah Lohne with the elves and Orcs but where never large playes in the way the world worked. They controled small kingdoms but never grew to being empires.
When the Elves opened their portal to the Thraindhne it is said that Zelnfix, the goddess of the gnomes, came down to talk with the High Gnomish king Zoot Thistletoe. She told him to go forth through the portals to the new world and escape an oncoming danger. Zelnfix promised prosperity for the gnomish people if they acted now. Zoot Thistletoe gathered all the gnomish people and did a full invasion of one of the elven portals. They traveled through and built some strong kingdoms which lasted until the Elven empire came and conquered most of the continent.

Note #19:The Jungles of Ganduala
The Jungle of Ganduala
In the south eastern part of the world lives a group of Islands filled with terrible and fearful creatures. Almost everything there, from the largest monster to the smallest insect has enough poison or power to kill you. South of this island, near the edge of the world lies another island. This is known as the Island of Ganduala.
The Island of Ganduala is not very large and is named after the tribe which inhabits it. It has an area of about 40 square miles and is completely covered in jungle. But this is not any normal jungle, the Jungle of Ganduala is infamous for being extremely deadly.
It's not eh animals which are deadly or even the terrain. What is the major killer are the plants. See all plants on Ganduala are ether carnivorous, poisonous, or posses other strange traits. The trees are said to move around and hunt some of the animals which live there.
Due to the dangers that many of the plants have, the Gandualaian people mainly eat the only harmless plant, screaming rice. This is grown near the coast. Their name comes from the fact that the rice grains have tiny mouths, which they scream and bite with, until they are cooked.

story #9: Ol'ven's monologe
Ol'ven's Monologue
So I was busy today and didn't have time to write up a story. Luckily I had this one in my back pocket. I planned to post this for the 10th story but I need something for today. I had a project at where I needed to write a monologue so I did one about Ol'ven Grenleaf.
As some of you may have figured out Ol'ven is a very important character to me. I mention him a lot since I plan to write a book about his adventures in Thraindhne. Ol'ven starts his adventures by running away from Haven, his home city, to go see the world. As he is leaving the city is attacked and destroyed before his eyes. He is basically the only person to escape (or is he?).
Anyway this is what I though Ol'ven may have been thinking of when he saw this. It's not my best writing of his character nor will it be the basis of the story. This is only a basic idea.

Freedom is mine at last.
The clean air and mountain dew bless my lungs.
The day is old and I am away from Fathers bonds, able to fly like a bird.
Farewell fair city, for although you may be my prison you will forever be in my heart.
What is this I see before my eyes.
Licking flames kiss the walls of my home.
My gods this is a bright day filled blackness.
Although I wish to be away, I did not wish this.
However there is not much I can do from here.
But still all I hold dear is now dead.
I can not watch anymore but can’t look away.
Father, Tod, Rose, all engulfed in this chaotic inferno.
I should be with them, not here.
I to should be ash on the wind, not safe from the destruction bellow me.
My freedom and glee is not deserved.
I should not be anymore.
But… if I die they will no longer exist.
For my mind is the only place they remain.
I am them, or what is left of them at least.
But what to do now.
How can I honor myself without regretting my choice?
How?
What can I do….
I can tell, for that is what I do best.
I shall go forth and tell their stories, so they live on is the minds of others.
I shall go forth and tell their stories, so they live on is the minds of others.
As close to immortality as humanly possible.
Yes, that’s what I’ll do.
That is what I’ll do.

Note #18 :Tartans
Tartans
Many of the clans in Fa'guendi wear Tartans to identify their heritage. These are usually worn as kilts, capes, or other garments. In the picture above are some common Tartans that are worn on the island. You can use the legend at the top to tell what culture wears what tartan, for example since the Ma'nas Tartan has a C above it it is a Ceihlic Tartan and clan.
The Picsain and Ceihlic are the cultures that are known by most to wear tartans but so do other groups. The Kunhav where the first people to bring kilts and Tartans to Fa'guendi. They wore tartans as job identifiers instead of for family. That's why they are mostly known for their Raider tartan, which they often wear when the raid the coastline town as Fe'guendi.
The Rebel Tartan is the only tartan that is considered a Picsain and Ceihlic. It was worn by both groups when they rebelled against the Weslory Empire.
The Green Guard tartan is one of the many organization Tartans. It is worn by their members. We shall talk about who they are another time however.

anyone there?
I've been working on this now for about 2 months. Which is longer then I thought I would last. Over this time I have put in a lot of my time and a lot of heart into this project. I have seen that people have been viewing (Thanks mom and dad!) and what is really cool is that people from all over the world have taken a look at this.
If you are reading this blog I fully encourage you to comment. I don't care if you think I should change something or like what I have done. This is a very unique project and I bet you'll never see anything like it again so It would be nice if you took some time to read and comment on it.
If you want to help or be able to consider yourself part of this just comment. I am looking for artist for the page. As well I do take request and I consider those who have requested to be an important part of this project. If you have read this and wanted to write a story by all means ask and send it to me and it will probably be posted.
you guys are great,
Owen

note #17 : The Orcish empire
The Orcish Empire
It may seem strange to you that the race considered to be nomadic savages had an empire. It should be noted that the Orcs were not always this way. The orcish people started out in the land known now as Shalfnah Lohne. They had kingdoms, just like the elves.
However when the destruction of Shalfnah Lohne began it hit the orcs first, destroying there kingdoms. Divided and ruined, the orcs divided into clans and fought against the elves to take controle of portals. Through these they escaped into Thraindhne.
With themselves divided the orcs resorted back to the old savage ways and broke into diffrent types. This, however, we shall talk about another time. At the time of the Elven and Dwarven empires many Orcish clans had formed in the south and had build cities. One of these clans had learnt to fight very well while riding dire wolves. Their leader, Cargukh the great, lead their clan in a great war of conquest in which they consumed all of the other clans into the Orcish empire.
During the war that became known as the Great war, which fought between the Elven, Dwarves, Giants, and Orcs, the Orcs expanded their realm even more. Cargukh's alliance with the giants helped them take over most of the southern world.
However Cargukh had many children, 7 sons and 12 daughters in fact, and when he died they all wanted to rule. The orcs began to fight among themselves and the empire crumbled. What remained was taken by other kingdoms outside of their realm, such as the giants. The orcs where never really able to fully recover from the empires fall. There are only a handful of orcish nations that are left, and most are still savage and lawless.
Note #16: Dealing with time
Dealing with Time
The world of Thraindhne uses a different system of time keeping then we do. They have seconds and minutes and hours and days but for long term, such as weeks, they have a different names and lengths.
weeks are known as Nihnes. There are 9 days in a Nihne, one for each of the small realms which circle Thraindhne.
2 Nihnes make a month. There are 18 months, 9 dark month, for the dark lord, and 9 light months for the gods. The dark months are what we would consider the winter months and the light months are what we would consider to be summer.
They call a year an Atnos. On this scale there are 324 days in an Atnos.
Atnos are broken into long sections called ages. Ages are usually 500 Atnos long. A age is declared to end/begin by the primordials after a major event.
Ages are usually broken into Eras. The number of Eras in a Age is usually 5, but it can vary. The religious head can decide when an Era begins. Most Eras start with the major world events.

story #8: The Game Master
The Game Master
A drunk man grabbed Weldon's arm, "Hey.. ye..ye buds with *hick* dat bard? Ye... know ah *hick* stories?"
Weldon slowly removed the mans hand, "I'm not his friend, I was just asking him a question. But yes I know a story. Have you ever heard of the Game Master..."
__________________________________________________________________________
What many people don't know is that there are thousands of minor gods walking around the world. Many are not powerful, like the river and tree spirits. However there are some ones that are very powerful and walk among us. One of them calls himself the Game Master.
He's a being of extreme and strange power. Nobody understands how he works, he lives in alternate crazy mini-dimensions and plays "games" with adventures. But he didn't start this way.
He was once a young, ambitious thief during the fall of the Elven and Dwarven empires. During the great war between Elven, Dwarves, Giants, and Orcs the Game Masters village was attacked. They where almost destroyed and taken over by the Orcs. The new rulers ran it as a Tyranny, taking everything from the humans and elves who lived there.
From this the Game Master started the a resistance. He became a lord among thieves, admired by almost everyone in Orcish empire. Then there was a day when everything went wrong. The resistances base was found out by the Orcs and all of them where slattered, except the Game Master.
This was not only devastating, but it is said that it broke his sanity. With nothing left he ran. Far away from his home. He ended up in the Two tower pass and screened at the gods for the power to bring vengeance apon his enemies. His cries where answered by a being of great power, a primordial many think, but the name of the being itself is not known. And the vengeance was brought on the tyrants of the city by the game master, and the city vanished from the world.
The Game Master left the world after this. He made his own pocket dimension and the craziest dungeons which he challenges adventurers to complete. He is insane and is quite and nobody knows anything else about him.
_______________________________________________________________________________
"It that good enough for you?" Weldon asks.
"Yeh...*hick* I guess. But that wasn't much of ah tale." Slurred the drunk.
Weldon tuns his back and walked towards the bar. " Well it better be enough for you because I'm not telling you another one."

Will take Requests!

Note #15 :More on Minor Gods
More on Minor Gods
As I've already noted Minor gods are not always have a realm. Honestly most are Dryads, spirits, sprites, Demon lords, Arch Devils and beings of power. It however must be said that Minor gods can die. Most are of no important stature, just basic beings, and are of no significance with their passing. On the occasion, however, when a minor god of importance, such as Argri, the goddess of Farmers, is killed another must take their position.
The person who takes on their role varies on the situation of death. If a mortal kills a minor god they have the choice to take on the gods or goddesses role. In the situation they mortal does not except the role, or the God or goddess is killed by other means, then their domain goes to another minor god. This is usually chosen by the god's or goddess's soul.
It should be noted that although all Minor gods can die not all are easy to kill. Sprites and spirits may be easy to kill but minor gods with realms or roles or of extreme power, such as the Beast of the Dark Lords, are extremely hard to kill. Caution is recommended.

Story #7:Tale of Fonter and Maria
The Tale of Fonter and Maria
People ask me, "How do you make a living as a bard?"
To that I usually say I don't and that's true. I come to inns, like this one, and they give me free food and a bed as long as I play something. This has been my fifth day at the Tipsy Merchant Inn in Ioda and I plan to be heading for Boars Head in the morning to visit some friends.
But he entertaining is good, especially since it keeps Gale quiet. I've just finished one of the tales of Ol'ven's adventures and the crowd was wild. I picked up my guitar and strummed some notes. Silence fell as the people listened.
"This one is my last tune for the night. Let's end it off with an old Iodan story, the Tale of Fonter and Maria"
And so I began to sing...

Here we tell the tale now,
of two lovers from Rivertown.
It starts with a young, poor lad named Fonter,
Who's in love with the Sheriffs daughter.
The people caller name be Maria the fair,
And was in love with him she wished to declare.
But her father, the sheriff, be a stuck up man,
Saying "She may only marry whoever he says she can."
Yet whenever they meet on the street they say to each other:
Whether the sun sets in the east or west,
I'll always be there for you,
No matter what I'll never love you less,
Yes I'll be there for you.
For you are the sun to my moon, eh.
Fonter decided to ask for fair Maria's hand,
The sheriff, so grand,
and started to look rather mad.
He looked and said to the lad,
"You boy are not of the proper rank,
For this, if I were your captain I would make you walk the plank"
This however did not turn him away,
For Fonter planned to for these orders never to obey.
Whenever they meet on the street they sing together:
Whether the sun sets in the east or west,
I'll always be there for you,
No matter what I'll never love you less,
Yes I'll be there for you.
For you are the sun to my moon, eh.
Fonter was a clever man,
for he had come up with a plan.
That they would sneak away together,
and love and forever each other.
He told this cunning plan to his love,
about how they would fly away free like doves.
They set the place and date,
and agreed not to be late.
Yet whenever they meet on the street they to each other:
Whether the sun sets in the east or west,
I'll always be there for you,
No matter what I'll never love you less,
Yes I'll be there for you.
For you are the sun to my moon, eh.
Two night later they met,
under an old oak tree.
And off they went,
To be together free,
And there love was never upset.
As they ran away they'd sing:
Whether the sun sets in the east or west,
I'll always be there for you,
No matter what I'll never love you less,
Yes I'll be there for you.
For you are the sun to my moon, eh.

As I ended a place erupted from the crowd. I slung my guitar behind my back and jumped off the table. I started to make my way upstairs when a young robed man Came up to me.
"Excuse me," he said "I'm writing a guide book to Thraindhne and I as wondering if I could add that story?"
"What do you want with a story in a guide book?"
"Well, it's more of a... collection of things from around the world."
"Sounds exiting. Sure you can use it. Good luck." I patted him on the back and got on my way.
He turned around and shouted, "Wait sir! Can I get your name?"
"Lark," I replied with a smile, "Lark Newton."
