Story #6: the tale of Mael Íosa

Mael'Íosa

The ship was nearing Ioda. The outskirts of the city could be seen breaking through the horizon. captain Redman was at the wheel, turning the ship towards the city. He looked down at Weldon and smiled, "Well lad, we'll be coming into port soon. As arranged I'll wait at the docks until your done."

"Yes captain." Weldon replies. He starts stuffing all of his equipment, which was laying on a barrel, into his bag.

"But before you go," The captain says, "Why not tell me another of you stories"

"Well," Weldon replied, swinging his bag on, "Your tale of Bolbi in Fa'guendi reminded me of a very good one. It all started with a cookie"

This story takes place a long time ago, during the age of the Weslory Empire. During there many conquests they had taken the land known as Fa'guendi. Or that was what they claimed. They had conquered almost all of the island but they hadn't taken the north. As the Empire had started it's conquest of the Island the Ceihlin and Picsain had moved northward.

This compression of tribes formed two very important things. First of all if created lots of fighting. The clans where always at each other necks, allowing for the empire, an Kunhav, to take away more land. But it also created a group of people so strong and brave that they could fight mountains and win.

One of these clans, the Laidn'led, lived on the Weslory boarder. The chief of the Clan formed a bond with the Weslorian people. One day his five year old daughter, Mael'Íosa, made cookies for the Weslorian General. They were not the worlds best cookies but they weren't horrible. They were here favorite kind of cookies, Cranberry and oat.

But when the General eat it he fell over dead. Now it was later found out that he had a very sever allergy to cranberries. But that was not known at the time. This little incident lead to a full scale assault of the Norther tribes by the Weslory, on the grounds of an assassination. This lasted for a week, in which the Laidn'led clan was almost wiped out and the Wesley Boarder advanced by 50 km.

Of those that escaped to slaughtering of the Laidn'led moved north. Of these people Mael'Íosa was one of them. She moved into the Itreach Clan, but she harbored hatred for the Weslory. Hatred for the destruction of her clan and hatred for that General's nerve to die from her cookie.

This fueled so much hate that eventually, twenty years later, she decided to deal with it. She decided to go and unite the clans and to fight back against the Empire. She rallied an army of 20 clans from the Ceihlin and Picsain people. A force of over 100 000 men strong armed to the teeth.

With this band of warriors Mael'Íosa started raids. They raided the Weslory boarder forcing them back. They seemed unstoppable, until the battle of Raebuhdhilld. An army of over 100 000 Fa'guendi men and women, fighting for their freedom, against 25 000 heavily armed Weslory Troops. It was a battle to remember.

It is said on this day Mael'Íosa, clad in Tartan and bronze armor, said a great speech on her war chariot before the battle. It is said to have been one of the greatest ever spoken. Many marvel at it and consider it one of the greatest creations in all of history. It is said that if it was written out the speech would be ten pages long, but it is best summarized by this famous quote, "We come feuding families, warring clans, and rivaling people. We are a people who hate each other but we stand against a  greater evil. Divided we may be we both wish to not be under the control of others, and so we will fight today. For FREEDOM!!!!!"

The battle lasted half an hour and in the end Mael'Íosa lost. Her army was divided and destroyed. She had barely made it out alive front he fight. Of the 100 000 warrior only 2 000 left alive. It is said that the grass on the site of the battle grows red from the blood of these warriors.

What became of Mael'Íosa, many ask? It is known that she led other unsuccessful rebellions against the Empire. Besides that it is not known what her fate was. This rebellion, although unsuccessful, is said to be the cause of the Weslory empires fall. This act against the Empire inspired others. Although she herself didn't win the war, Mael'Íosa eventually won.
